The Belief Audit · A Perception Diagnostic

Your buyers have already made up their minds about you, and so have reporters, referral partners and the AI tools people now ask for recommendations. Most of them didn't get that picture from you. The Belief Audit is how I find out what that picture is, where it came from, and what it's costing you.

What I look at

The Perception Diagnostic is a structured look at how you're seen today, measured against how you need to be seen. It covers four areas:

  • How you're described now. Your own website and materials, your reviews and press, your search results, what your competitors say, and the answers AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity give when someone asks about your category.
  • The decision your buyer is making. What they're actually choosing between, the objections that come up before a yes, and the reference points they compare you against without saying so. I build this from conversations with your stakeholders or customers and from your own sales or intake notes.
  • How your influence is working. Every touchpoint reviewed against the seven principles of influence (reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof, authority, liking, scarcity and unity). For each one I note what you use well, what's missing and what's working against you.
  • The gaps that matter. The belief gaps that are costing you the most, ranked, with a recommended fix for each.

Who this is for

The Belief Audit is for leaders whose work is strong but whose reputation hasn't caught up with it. That usually means:

  • Brands, especially growth-stage and established companies, or a consumer brand moving upmarket.
  • B2B and professional services firms, such as law, accounting, engineering, healthcare, SaaS and industrial suppliers, where buyers decide on trust long before they sign.
  • Campaigns, public figures and organizations heading into a visible moment: a launch, a leadership change, public scrutiny, or a story that's already being told badly.

It's probably not the right fit if you're looking for a quick round of posts or ads. This is the work I do before anyone spends on those.

What you walk away with

  • A perception baseline. A clear, documented picture of how you're seen today, with the sources behind it.
  • A decision map. What your buyer is deciding, and what's helping or getting in the way.
  • An influence review. Where your messaging earns trust and where it leaks it.
  • A ranked gap report. The few changes that matter most, in order, with what to do about each.
  • A readout with me. We go through the findings together, and you keep a written plan you can carry out with me or without me.

How it works

  1. Tell me what's going on. Fill out the short intake form. Tell me, in your own words, where you think the perception problem is.
  2. I review it myself. I read every intake personally. If I don't think a diagnostic is the right move for you, I'll tell you that plainly.
  3. We talk. If it looks like a fit, we set up a 30-minute call to go over what you're seeing, what's at stake and whether a full diagnostic makes sense. No pitch deck, no pressure.

Start with what people already believe.

You can't change a perception you haven't measured. If you'd like me to take a look, start with the intake. If you'd rather talk it through first, that works too.

Founder, InPhluence

What is a Perception Diagnostic?

A Perception Diagnostic, which InPhluence calls the Belief Audit, is a fixed-scope, three-week review of how buyers, press and AI answers describe you today, measured against how you need to be seen. It ends with a ranked gap report, a readout with William Phenicie and a written plan you keep.

What does InPhluence not do?

InPhluence does not sell guaranteed press coverage, invented scarcity or campaign spend before the story is clear. Coverage is earned, never guaranteed.
